Our first Men’s Group is a big success!

Supporting people to play an active role in their community and develop friendships is a core part of what we do here at Yarrow. To this end, earlier this month we held our first ever Yarrow Men’s Group. We wanted it to be an opportunity for the people we support to come together and talk about issues that are important to them in a safe, inclusive and friendly environment.

Our first Men’s Group was held at our Central Office, and it was a great success. We were delighted that more than 35 people came along. Our meeting room was bursting at the seams! Everyone chatted, played games, listened to music and made plans to meet up – with three gents heading straight off after the meeting to watch that afternoon’s QPR match. Making spontaneous plans like this can be more of a challenge for the people that we support, so it was wonderful to see the group heading off together.

Off to watch QPR

We’ll be holding a Men’s Group every month, changing locations each time depending on what people would like to do. The meetings will also include trips out and events. Next time we’re going to meet at a pub to watch live football, and we’ll be asking everyone which match they want to watch. We’re hoping for another big turnout and another fun afternoon!

Thanks to everyone who came along to the first group and helped to make it such a success. We’re already looking forward to the next one.
